First Post--First House
Hi, I'm trying to start a side business of house painting. No--I will not come to your house and paint your walls. I mean, actually making a portrait of your house. Why would anyone want such a thing?
Say you want to send a Christmas card, of your happy home? I can sketch that up and scan it for you in a jiffy.
Maybe you moved, and you left a much beloved home behind.
Maybe your parents moved, and you'd like to give them an unusual remembrance gift.
Maybe it's your childhood home and have some good memories.
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!
I can also paint any pictures you have. A beloved pet! A beautiful view!
But I hear you say, why wouldn't I just blow up the picture and hang it on the wall? Don't be silly! There are a thousand reasons a painting is better! Say the only picture you have isn't a particularly good one. Any picture, no matter how ordinary, looks better when painted. The colors are more vibrant, the lines less rigid, the painting aligns with your memory and not with a collection of boards and nails that are randomly frozen in time by the shutter. Another reason is that a house portrait is something of an investment. It retains it's value over time. And, could very well grow in value.
I also paint people to varying degrees of success. My style is impressionistic so my intent is not to create a photorealistic representation of a person, but sense of intimacy and a familiarity. A photo is a dead image from the past--a painting shows movement, and life.
My prices are reasonable, but also depend on my availability, deadline and the size of the project. I paint in acrylic and oil, but for house portraits, acrylic is my chosen medium.
